Job description

The General Manager (GM) of Feeding Palm Beach County (FPBC) is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the overall operations of Feeding South Florida’s (FSF) Boynton Beach facility. This position plays an integral role in intradepartmental coordination of activities at FPBC. The ideal candidate is strategic, business savvy, understands process improvement, and has leadership experience.


Under the direction of the Executive Team (ET), the GM is responsible for the following:


  • Act in service before all else.
  • Help set policies and make decisions that guide productivity, quality, and overall cost efficiency of the FPBC facility.
  • Leads implementation and execution of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Establish systems to collect metrics, analyze productivity and review performance targets (set by each respective department lead) that will help meet operational, programmatic and budgetary goals.
  • Analyze results, identify opportunities, and make decisions in collaboration with the ET to drive key performance indicators.
  • Ensure overall facility safety and security procedures and training are in place.
  • Create an inclusive and communicative environment.
  • Support the operational needs of the choice pantry.
  • Work closely with Directors of Operations, Finance, Programs, and Development.
  • Liaise with facility contractors, ensuring budgets are met.
  • Ensure reporting deadlines are met.
  • Positively represent the FSF brand and mission.


  • Review the execution of overall warehousing and facilities practices focused on quality and continuous improvement.
  • Implement action plan to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure that all operations comply with required regulations.
  • Ensure ongoing maintenance and timely repair of all facility equipment.
  • Develop a HACCP plan.
  • Liaise with vendors on the building.
  • Lead the implementation and execution of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Lead the development and deployment of logistics practices focused on quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Implement action plan to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure that all operations comply with all required regulations.
  • Coach, teach and train to build capabilities.
  • Ensure all raw materials are in adequate supply.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of inventory.

Job requirements


The GM will be thoroughly committed to FSF’s strategy, mission and culture. All candidates should have demonstrated entrepreneurial, culinary, leadership, and relationship management experience, with strong demonstrated success managing a variety of community relationships.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least 5 years of management experience with a varied demographic of direct reports, as well as phases of organizational development including phases of growth.
  • Strong knowledge of community leaders, influential decision makers, and the political landscape of Palm Beach County.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with a diverse group of stakeholders and constituencies.
  • Impeccable integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven and self-directed with demonstrated passion for FSF’s mission and commitment to working collaboratively with a management team of senior professionals.
  • Solid judgment and leadership skills.
  • A team player, who can relate and operate effectively with peers and other associates within a collegial, yet demanding, work environment.
  • An individual who can manage multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a complex environment with multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills; basic business intuition, common sense, and strong work ethic.
  • Willingness and ability to support events, other departments, and coordinator-level work as necessary.
  • Must maintain a valid Driver’s License and an insured, reliable personal vehicle.


  • Based on OSHA Standards Lifting requirements are 50 lbs. When lifting loads heavier than 50 lbs, use two or more people to lift the load.
  • This position works in a warehouse and office setting. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing and/or bending; listening, talking and/or visual concentration; writing and/or computer use; manual labor, equipment use and varied temperatures including heat and cold.
  • After business hours work is required throughout the year, as is frequent travel throughout Palm Beach County.
  • Occasional same day, and overnight out of town travel for meeting, conferences and special events is required.
    Involves activities in both office and warehouse environments with exposure to the climate and South Florida weather, with a moderate noise level.
